OPPORTUNITIES
1. How might the addition of a mezzanine impact the experience of the office?
The first few weeks of this project involved quick, iterative design options to determine the appropriate design of a second floor within the proposed office.
2. How might we inspire individuals to do their most meaningful work?
Consider how the space can be organized to meet the needs of all.
3. How might we create a space that feels familiar and comfortable to all?
Located in a mixed use development, the design sought to capture a shift from corporate to communal and residential.

OPPORTUNITY 1
Design and submit a permit set for a mezzanine addition in under eight weeks.
Thinking broadly, four highly different diagrammatic approaches were tested:
Each idea was analyzed against initial workshop findings, seeking to find the optimal solution that balanced programmatic needs, base building constraints and code requirements.
OPPORTUNITY 2
Empower individuals to choose where they do their most meaningful work.
Once a mezzanine option was finalized, extensive user journey mappings and exercises were developed. Each sought to dynamically respond to a variety of use cases at all scales - from understanding why a team might be in the office together to identifying what empowers individuals to use different spaces within the office.
